Start With What You Know

You do not need to arrive with a finished design.

You can send Komal a photograph of a ring you like, a screenshot from Instagram or Pinterest, a picture from a magazine, an old family ring, or even a rough sketch you have drawn yourself.

You can also send several references and explain what you like about each one.

Perhaps you like the setting of one ring, the shape of another and the simplicity of a third.

That is enough to begin.

If you have no references at all, simply tell Komal what you are looking for.

She will help you turn the idea into a direction for the design.

There is no fixed catalogue when you choose the custom route.

What Will My Ring Actually Look Like?

This is one of the most important parts of the experience.

Before the ring is manufactured, Komal creates a detailed 3D digital version of your design.

You can see the ring from different angles and understand its proportions, setting, band, stone placement and overall appearance before committing to production.

The design can then be refined.

You may want the band slightly thinner.

You may want the setting lower.

You may prefer a different proportion between the centre stone and the side stones.

You may decide that a detail should be removed or made more prominent.

These decisions can be made while the ring is still on the screen.

For selected designs, we can also create an optional 3D-printed prototype so you can physically examine the size and proportions before the final ring is made.

The idea is to give you confidence before anything is cast in precious metal.

Choosing the Diamond

Once you have an idea of the design, the centre stone becomes the next important decision.

This is where Andy comes in.

As a GIA Graduate Gemologist from New York, Andy can help you understand the diamond options available and where your budget is best spent.

You can discuss:

• The overall appearance of the diamond rather than simply its specifications

The largest diamond is not necessarily the most beautiful choice.

Sometimes a slightly different combination of proportions, colour or clarity can create a much better-looking stone within the same budget.

The purpose of the conversation is to help you understand those choices before you buy.

Or Choose a Coloured Gemstone

An engagement ring does not have to centre around a diamond.

Sapphire, ruby, emerald and other coloured gemstones can create a completely different character.

Andy can guide you through the qualities that matter for the gemstone you are considering, including colour, clarity, treatment, durability and suitability for everyday wear.

If you already own a gemstone, you can also design the ring around it.

Perhaps it is a family stone.

Perhaps it was purchased on a special occasion.

Or perhaps you simply found a stone you love and now need to decide what to do with it.

What About My Budget?

We prefer to discuss the budget early.

Knowing what you are comfortable spending allows us to design intelligently rather than creating something that later needs to be scaled back.

Your budget can influence the centre stone, metal, number of diamonds, design complexity and amount of hand craftsmanship.

There are usually several ways to approach the same idea.

A change in the setting may allow you to spend more on the centre stone.

A different diamond specification may give you a larger visual appearance without a significant increase in cost.

A simpler band may allow more attention to be given to the setting.

These are the kinds of decisions Andy and Komal can help you make.

The objective is not to spend the most. It is to create the best ring within the budget you have chosen.

What Happens After I Approve the Design?

Once you are happy with the design, the specifications are confirmed.

The chosen diamond or gemstone, metal, dimensions and other details are finalised before manufacturing begins.

Andy then leads the manufacturing process in Jaipur.

The approved 3D model becomes the technical foundation for production, while experienced craftsmen handle the processes required to turn it into a finished ring.

Depending on the design, this may include casting or fabrication, stone setting, engraving, surface finishing, polishing and other handwork.

From the Screen to Your Finger

The CAD design gives the manufacturing team an accurate reference for the proportions and construction of the ring.

But the final result still depends on skilled craftsmanship.

Once the ring has been produced, the diamond or gemstone is carefully set and the metal is polished and finished by hand.

The ring is checked for its construction, setting, symmetry, proportions and overall finish.

The final piece should not simply look like the digital design.

It should feel right when you wear it.

Planning a Surprise Proposal?

If you are designing the ring for a proposal, you do not have to know everything before you begin.

Komal can help you work out the design based on what you know about her.

Photographs of the jewellery she already wears can tell us a great deal about her style.

You can also send photographs of rings she has liked, screenshots she has saved, or references you think reflect her taste.

We can help you think through:

Think About the Wedding Band Too

An engagement ring is often only the first part of the set.

If you already know that you will want a wedding band later, we can consider this while designing the engagement ring.

The wedding band can be designed to sit neatly alongside the engagement ring, either matching it closely or providing a deliberate contrast.

For couples who want a complete set, we can design both rings together so that the proportions and profiles work naturally on the hand.
